Eriq Ebouaney received Saturday night at the closing ceremony of the Leuven African Film Festival (Leuven) a Life Time Achievement Award. The 49-year-old actor, whose image also appeared on the posters of the festival, is best known to the general public for his incarnation of Lumumba in the film of the same name.

But he also held various roles on stage, within the theatre companies Théâtre du Boulevard and Cie La Baignoire.

Having actually pierced in the eyes of the general public with the main role in « Lumumba« , of Raoul Peck, and that of the wicked in « Fatal woman » by Brian de Palma, he also appeared in the Belgian work « The Past Before Us » by Nathalie Teirlinck. With a career that he saw alongside Gérard Depardieu, Jean Reno, Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson, John Malkovich or Antonio Banderas, he has dozens of films and series to his credit, as well as short films including « Mom(s)« , who won the Caesar in his category this year.

The Public Prize, also announced Saturday night, has come back to « A United Kingdom » - Amma Asante. This film is based on real facts, dating back to 1947 in Botswana: the love story between Seretse Khama, future president of Botswana, and young Londoner Ruth Williams.
